Don’t Worry, You’re Not Going to Starve |
Saturday, April 1, 2006 | |
Believe it or not, one of the silliest fears and most common issues dieters face is
the fear of going hungry. “If I don’t eat the whole sandwich, I know I’ll be hungry in about an hour, and
since I’ll be stuck in that meeting, I won’t be able to eat again until dinner time, so I’d better just
eat the whole thing, even though I’m not really hungry for it now.” Sound familiar? If this is you, it’s
time to get realistic. A little hunger is nothing to be afraid of, but if you’re convinced that you can’t deal
with the pangs of “starvation,” then heed this advice: carry a granola bar (or dried fruit, nuts or another healthy
snack) in your bag, purse, glove box, or briefcase. Then you’ll have no excuse for overeating when you’re not
really hungry for more, because you’ll remember that you have a hunger-calming healthy snack at your fingertips whenever
you need it. |
